Bears move to Rugby for remainder of 2019
CEO Club Statement: Coventry Bears secure Rugby Football Club for final home games of 2019
We have been informed by Coventry RFC that they intend to commence work on the pitch at the Butts Park Arena with construction starting shortly on what is hoped to be an AGP pitch. There have been delays from previous plans so this now means that the BPA pitch will not be available until late August or early September.
I have now taken the decision to secure another venue for the remaining games of 2019.
Remaining Home Games:
Broadstreet RFC
Saturday 29th June v Doncaster 3pm Ko
Rugby Football Club (Rugby Lions)
Sunday 14th July v Hunslet 3pm Ko
Sunday 4th August v Keighley Cougars 3pm Ko
Sunday 1st September v Oldham 3pm Ko
Sunday 8th September v Whitehaven 3pm Ko
Unfortunately, due to late notice, our current home at Broadstreet RFC is also unavailable due to prior event bookings.
I have however secured use of The Rugby Football Club (Rugby Lions) at Webb Ellis Road in Rugby, Warwickshire, CV22 7AU to play our remaining games from July-September.
We understand that this has been a difficult time for supporters, and I would like to apologise for the inconvenience, but we must focus on the positives that can often come from adversity like this.
1.We hope to negotiate a new tenure at the BPA later this year on a new AGP pitch with Coventry RFC.
2.We have another opportunity to take the club on the road and showcase rugby league at a well-known and famous facility.
3.We hope to work with supporters and our supporters club to ensure fans have as little disruption as possible to travel to Rugby.
Thank you for your understanding.
regards,
Alan Robinson
