Bears appoint new reserve team coach
James Carter to coach Bears reserve team
The club is delighted to appoint local Midlands coach James Carter as the new Coventry Bears reserves coach.
Bears Alan Robinson commented on his appointment: "James is a young and ambitious coach who has previously worked in a number of good environments, he is very eager to develop himself and has a good background working with Midlands players at club and representative student levels. I feel he is a perfect fit for our environment and has already bought into our philosophy".
James will work alongside Tom Tsang, Mark Sloan and Martyn Rothwell keeping a strong policy of developing Midlands based coaches within the club. He will work closely with new and developing players who come through as prospective professionals playing in the Conference League South competition.
James commented: "I'm really excited about joining Coventry. Having seen the club develop over the years it's great to see the Bears now enter into professional rugby league. When the opportunity came up to apply to coach the Reserve Grade side in Conference League South it was something I jumped at".
"From seeing the Club's plans I was blown away by the ambition in developing further; not just through the professional side but also in the community. There's a real energy between all staff/players and there's a clear solid pathway for all".
"The seasons not far away now so I'm looking forward to working with the lads and getting focused on our first CLS game against Sheffield Hallam Eagles on 21st March".
