BEARS SIGN BEN STEAD
The club has made a big statement for 2018 with the signing of half back Ben Stead from the Gloucester All Golds. Ben also featured for England Universities in 2017 making the World XIII line up as half back of the tournament at the World Cup in Australia.
Tom Tsang said of the new signing;
I am very excited to be able to confirm Ben has agreed to join the Bears for 2018 from the University of Gloucestershire All Golds.
Ben, who is currently completing a Masters degree in Gloucestershire, has played two full seasons at League One level where he has established himself as a strong attacking halfback with a damaging kicking game.
As well as his time in League One, Ben was also the starting halfback for the England Universities side that travelled to Australia this summer for the Student RL world cup and so is familiar to a number of our existing squad.
Ben has played against the Bears on a few occasions so I have seen how he can manage a team and I am excited by the prospect of him lining up alongside Paul Emanuelli who he will partner in the halves.
Ben stead commented:
I am excited to have signed with Coventry Bears for the 2018 season. After two tough games against them last season I could see that there is a good ethos at the club and a strong coach in Tom Tsang who I am looking forward to working with come pre season. I will look to help the team build on last year and hopefully gel into the team quickly.
