Bears take two on loan from Dewsbury Rams / by Bears Media

We have taken the move to supplement our squad with two players from Championship side, Dewsbury Rams.

Bears Coach Tom Tsang said:

"After a few injuries picked up in our last two games, we felt it prudent to bring in some additional experienced players to our squad. The two will cover key positions and have already added value with their presence at training and have slotted in very well.

"Toby Richardson is a prop and can also play second row. He was a regular for Dewsbury in 2018, being very tough and is in great shape, meaning he can play for long minutes - a bonus now the interchanges have been reduced to 8 this year.

"Jacob Thomas is an Australian halfback who was a target of ours in the off-season but eventually signed for the Rams. We are happy to finally be able to see him in a Bears shirt. He is a skillful player and will help us in the absence of Nick Newman who picked up a 1 game ban from the match versus Keighley. "

Both players join us initially for 1 month but with a possibility of extension.

Toby Richardson said:

"Joining Coventry will benefit me massively if I can secure a spot in the team, so I can get some quality minutes under my belt.I would like to help the team get as many wins as possible whilst I’m with the Bears and try my best to impress whilst on the field.
I think I can bring a lot of talk and enthusiasm to the middles at Coventry and I will be bringing my best for the club."

Jacob Thomas added:

"I'm really looking forward getting started with the Bears. For me it's an opportunity to come in and be a part of a team that has started the season well and I hope to help them continue their winning ways and pushing for promotion.
Being new to the game in this country I'm looking forward to getting valuable minutes and showing what I can do.
As a halfback I want to help bring composure and direction to the team. This is my favourite thing to do and I will bring that enthusiasm to every play."
