South Wales Ironmen v Coventry Bears

On Sunday, Coventry Bears travel down to Merthyr Tydfil to take on South Wales Ironmen hoping to make it two wins in a row following last Sundays hard fought 28-24 win over Hemel Stags.

The Bears are in a confident mood, the experience of travelling across to Canada two weeks ago having raised their profile, and provided a real boost to a season which had, until then, failed to get into gear.

Their opponents on Sunday have had a nomadic existence, playing under their previous name of Scorpions at Neath, Caerphily, Mountyain Ash and Maesteg before coming to Merthyr.

Rumours abound of another name change and yet another location next year, and there is a cloud of uncertainty over the club at the moment.

However, they will not be a pushover, despite their second from bottom position and lack of league wins this season.

Adversity brings put the best in many teams and their loyal fans are desperate for something to feel good about.

They will certainly have identified their home game against the Bears, who are still only one place above them, as one they would want to win.

But back to the Bears, who are looking not just for two in a row, but for a first away win of the season and a chance to distance themselves from the stragglers and rejoin the mid-table pack where just two points separate eight teams.
