Coventry Bears Juniors 2018
Coventry Bears are proud to have lots of community activity ongoing throughout the year and our latest offering is about to commence in April 2018.
As part of our SKY TRY project, we will be running Coventry Bears Juniors at ages Under 7's, 8's and 9's as a community club for the summer months. The club is open to boys and girls (school years 2, 3 & 4) and they do not need to have any experience of playing, just need to turn up for a free taster session dressed appropriately for outdoor training.
Troy Perkins, Community Coach will be leading the Junior sessions, together with James Geurtjens (Coventry Bears Prop) and Alan Robinson. With their wealth of experience, sessions will be full contact and made up of fun drills and games. We anticipate competitive games being arranged with other clubs in due course where possible.
Troy Perkins is very excited for this new club to get underway: “It’s great to be involved in the start of the Bears Junior Club in 2018. This will give children the opportunity to play rugby league and hopefully inspire the children who will be the future stars of the Bears first team. I have been working in many schools throughout the city delivering the Sky Try programme and after the children have experienced 6 weeks of rugby league they now have a club to go to and carry on improving their skills in the contact form of the game as well as meeting other children from all parts of the city."
Following a taster session, upon signing up, the Juniors will receive a free training kit consisting of a T-shirt and shorts for the Friday sessions and games. The club will run from April 20th until the start of the summer holidays (27th July), so that's less than £3.50 per session!
Further information will be announced soon regarding older age groups being offered Junior training, so keep your eye on social media and www.coventrybears.co.uk
