Kieran Sherratt - England Students and Coventry University Second-Row
TT: Kieran is now a familiar face at the Bears, as he enters his 3rd season with the club, and has established himself as one of our best players. A threat in attack, with good footwork, strength and awareness - Kieran has made the left second-row position his own, while also having the versatility and toughness to play other positions such as loose-forward and when needed, hooker. He has really improved since he first joined us, not just technically, but also in terms of leadership qualities and his positive influence on the team. I think Kieran has a lot more improvement in his game and I am looking forward to seeing him kick on and have his best season to date in 2019.
Dan Gover β England Students and Coventry University Prop
TT: Dan has shown remarkable and rapid development in his two season's with us. When he first joined he was a physically dominant but had little game understanding and awareness. Now he has a strong grasp of what his role requires and has started to add some fantastic nuances to his play which make him stand out. With the loss of James Geurtjens this season, we will be putting a lot more responsibility on Dan's shoulders and will be asking him to start to lead our pack. He has the ability and I have every confidence he will put in the work and commitment to do the job.
DG: It was an easy choice to re-sign with the Bears for the coming season. We have gone from strength to strength over the last few years, taking some heartland scalps and some near misses too. Itβs great be a part of a developing team and I look forward to representing my home town again next season.
Peter Ryan- Coventry University student and Irish International Prop
TT: Peter really shows what is possible with the right combination of natural talent, work ethic and good environment. In October last year Peter came to Coventry to study at the University and attended our trial day, earning himself a contract. From that point, Peter bought into our culture of personal development and over the course of the year went from 7th choice prop, to a starting player who was recognised, firstly in the League 1 team of the Month, followed by a call up to the full Ireland RL side, making his international debut versus Scotland. Pete is still a work in progress and to have him for another season is an exciting prospect.
James Mason- England student and Wales Back Row
TT: Mason had a successful 2018. He was relatively un-tested at League 1 level having previously only made a couple of appearances for Gloucestershire All Golds. Through the course of the season, Mason played 19 games for the Bears and represented England Universities, before a call up to the full Wales RL squad for the European Championships. He is another player who can cover a number of positions but is most at home in the second-row. Even though James had a good year for us with some key contributions, he has a lot of improvement in him and I look forward to him making the most of a second season in Coventry.
