Hemel Stags 14 Coventry Bears 50
Miliszewski and O'Mara score hat-tricks as Bears roar home to an impressive win
Hat-tricks from Jono Miliszewski and Charlie O'Mara helped Coventry Bears record a convincing 50-14 victory at Hemel Stags on Sunday.
Hemel came into the game on the back of a 74-6 defeat to Keighley Cougars seven days earlier but raced into an 8-0 lead.
However, they would only add one try in the second half, while the Bears ran in ten tries in total.
Three apiece from Miliszewski and O'Mara, and further scores from Chris Barratt, Jay Lobwein, Brad Brennan and Liam Thompson helped convert a 14-8 half-time lead into a more dominant final score line.
The starting Bears pack along with on loan Barrow prop Brad Brennan and Trae O'Sullivan off the Bench helped set a platform to cut loose on the Stags in the second half.
Head coach Tom Tsang was delighted with his side's application after some consistent performances over the last few weeks.
“This was an important win for us, as there were a few teams in the table on the same points as us," he said.
"The other results over the weekend went our way so it kicks us up a few spots on the ladder.
"We came into the game off the back of a couple of good performances and were confident that if we stuck to a simple game plan, which focused on completing sets and playing direct with good tempo, we would create opportunities.
"The next challenge is keeping focused as we have a bit of a disrupted schedule the next 3 weeks- we play the re-arranged game against York on a Wednesday night, and then a weekend off before we take on Oxford at home on Saturday 11th June”
