Hunslet Match Preview
Bears go to Hunslet for a second time
Hunslet v Coventry Bears, this Sunday 2nd July kick off 3pm in Leeds
Coventry Bears travel up the M1 again to Yorkshire this weekend to play Hunslet, and if that sounds familiar, then it is, because it was Hunslet who knocked Bears out of the Challenge Cup four months ago.
The score was 34-0 to Hunslet on that day in February for a Third Round cup encounter, and it has to be said that the Bears struggled to find any rhythm that day. A disallowed try was the nearest they came to scoring that day.
But things have moved on, and the Bears have been acquitting themselves much better just lately. It started with a sterling performance in Toronto, followed by a much needed home win, and then two consecutive games where they have lost by the narrowest of margins at the end.
Admittedly, the Bears points haul isn’t what it should be, but then the same could be said of Hunslet, who occupy a similar mid table position to Workington who only just beat the Bears last week.
Those who were at Butts Park last week saw the Bears at their best, and owner Alan Robinson and Coach Tom Tsang both believe it won’t be long now that things really click into place and start to get the results.
There are just three games left before the league splits into two separate competitions and chalking up a couple of wins will set the Bears up nicely for the latter part of the season.
The Bears are also away the following weekend but return to Butts Park on Sunday July 16th.
