Jay Lobwein Becomes Bears Second New Recruit for 2016

Following the signing of James Redman the Bears can also now confirm that Australian Halfback Jay Lobwein has agreed to join the club for 2016.

Joining from Sunshine Coast Falcons Lobwein plays at both hooker and scrum half and has been a regular for the Falcons in the Queensland Cup for the past three years.

Lobwein commented on signing for 2016 saying "I have had a wonderful time at the Sunshine Coast Falcons, however having the opportunity to play for the Bears in England is something I am excited about. I am looking forward to meeting Tom and my new teammates."

Speaking about the addition of Lobwein to his squad "Jay is an exciting new signing from Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. Jay has a great pedigree, having played consistently at Queesland Cup level for three seasons as well as having spent time with the Melbourne Storm u20s set up. This year, despite having some very skillful players we have really lacked genuine experience in the ball playing positions and that is the main attribute that Jay brings. He is a level headed halfback with a great kicking game and ball playing ability. He can cover the halves and hooker and we will be looking to Jay to execute our game plan and help get us into good positions on the field. He has been very professional in our dealings with him and I am sure that will transfer onto the field."

Lobwein is one of a number of new signings the club have made in preparation for the 2016 season.
