Richie Hughes Re-Signs for 2016
The Club are delighted to announce that hooker Richie Hughes has agreed to a new contract which will see him remain at Butts Park Arena for the 2016 Kingston Press League One campaign.
After starting the 2015 season late due to knee surgery Hughes quickly became a regular in Head Coach Tom Tsang's first team and has proven his worth since he pulled on the Bears shirt.
Speaking on his re-signing Tsang said: "Its great news for the club that Richie has chosen to re-sign for us. RIchie started the first few months of the season in the Physio room as he was recovering from an ACL knee reconstruction."
"Once he was fit to return Richie made great strides and quickly claimed the Hooker position as his own and had more and more of an influence on the side, eventually taking over the captaincy when Simon Phillips was out injured. The exciting thing is that he will only improve next year with this season and a full, injury-free preseason under his belt."
Hughes also commented on extending his stay with the club saying "I am more than happy to be re-signing with the Coventry Bears. The Club gave me a chance after a pretty lengthy time out with a knee injury and provided me with the environment or me to complete my rehabilitation."
"The 2015 season has been a personal success for me in that respect and I hope to carry that on into 2016"
Hughes joins Jack Morrison and Jamahl Hunte who have also extended their stay with the club .
