Workington preview: part one of a crucial four weeks

Coventry Bears heads coach Rich Squires has named his matchday squad for this Sunday’s game against Workington Town in Betfred League 1 - the first of a crucial run of fixtures.

This week’s match is the first of four consecutive home matches for the Bears, and a run that could have impact on the season overall.

Squires has had to make some changes to his squad from last time out, with joint-leading try scorer Nathan Hill missing through injury. But, Matty Welham does make a welcome return while Elliot Windley features in the squad for the first time in 2021.

Both Squires and player/coach Dave Scott talked about the importance of this run of fixtures in shaping the Bears’ season when talking to our official podcast, Bear Necessities, this week.

Bears fans will be looking for a repeat of the last time Workington came to Coventry, when the Bears put on a sizzling display to bag a 41-30 victory.
