4 more players sign for the Bears
The Bears ranks grow as more players sign in january
Head Coach Tom Tsang commented on the new signings;
Troy Brophy
"I'm very pleased to have secured the signing of Troy for the upcoming season. He has actually played against the Bears a number of times for Warrington Wizards and Crosfields and has always caused us problems, so to have him on our side is great.
He is a very elusive runner and strong in the contact. We will be looking at him primarily as a fullback, but he is more than capable in the centre and on the wing so he gives us some good utility value as well.
Troy has been training very well so far and should feature regularly this season."
Troy commented: I played against Coventry for a number of years, and always thought the setup was fantastic. So when the opportunity came to sign for them I felt it was the right move to make. I can see us doing well as there is a great set of lads and training is going well and we're developing really well as a team.
Dan Poulton
"Dan has been involved with the Bears on and off for 3 years now and has proven to be a consistent performer who can fill a number of roles due to his intelligence and game awareness. He will be primarily used as a stand off but also covers the centre position well. Dan is a Midlands lad and is already working hard to earn a spot in the starting 17."
Dan commented: I am really happy to have signed for Coventry Bears as I have been with them for a few years now. It is great to be a part of their journey into League One and I am sure we will turn a few heads this year!
Ben Tyers
"Ben returns to the Bears, where he had half a season in 2013 before a knee injury stopped him from playing as many games as we would have liked. Since 2013 he has spent a season playing in Australia for the Warwick Cowboys, gaining valuable experience in a tough competition. He will add some toughness to our pack where he can play at both prop and second row. He is very knowledgeable of the game and I am positive he will be a strong addition to our squad."
Ben Tyers: I'm excited about the challenge ahead and feel like I have something to prove with me having a bad injury early in the 2013 season while playing for the bears. Hopefully I have learnt a couple of things that I can add to the team after a year in Australia playing with old Coventry favorite Trent Achilles.
Jamahl Hunte
"Jamahl is an athletic winger or centre who has joined the club from Halifax. He attended the trials in November and his speed and power stood out immediately. He smashed the athletic tests we ran and showed up well on the field as well. He has moved to Coventry for the opportunity and is already showing great promise. I am excited to see him on the big pitch at the Butts Park Arena with some space in front of him."
Jamahl said: "I am very excited to join Coventry Bears, I see this as a huge opportunity at a great club, I am looking forward to getting on the field again after preseason"
