BEARS & SWINDON ST GEORGE FORM PARTNERSHIP

We are delighted to announce another new club partnership with south west club Swindon St George.

Coventry Bears Alan Robinson commented:

“Swindon play in the Conference League South but are situated in the South West which offers us another unique opportunity to work with them to develop players both ways on a dual registration agreement. We have a number of players within our environment from that area and St George are a progressive club with a strong brand and they want to work with us to benefit from our experience on and off the field. Ben Whincup who is heavily involved at St George has now also joined us as an assistant first team coach so will have the unique opportunity to monitor the development of players who might be involved in the relationship.

Ben Whincup said: I'm delighted that we are able to bring this pathway from the south west up to league 1. The potential in this area is huge and hopefully with me combining roles with both the Bears and St George I can close the gap between the community game and the professional game. Hopefully we will see more local talent in the Bears squad over the coming seasons.

This is a massive opportunity for everyone involved with Swindon St George, we have always prided ourselves on being a community grass roots club. Having this partnership in place will only benefit everyone involved, not just in terms of high calibre players coming into St George which will add value to the quality that we already have, but the direct pathway for our players who show potential and who are wanting to progress into the semi professional ranks. It speaks volumes about the ambition and direction that the club is heading in and we can’t wait to work with the Bears.
