Bears hail player assessment day a huge success
#inthistogether
The club held a player assessment day earlier this month at our new training venue at Newbold Revel and coaches were very pleased and excited about how the squad is shaping up.
Bears Tom Tsang commented:
"The player assessment day was a huge success. Over 50 players applied to attend and we whittled that down to a select 26 who undertook a variety of sessions looking at technical and tactical awareness as well as mental and physical attributes. The standard of player was very high and everyone who took part, did so with a great attitude and work ethic. We will definitely be looking to offer a number of the players an opportunity to join our squad for League One - if even just one of these eventually signs a first team contract, the process will have been worthwhile.
This player assessment day formed one of the final pieces of this year's recruitment jigsaw, as we have already now signed over 20 players for the 2016 season. We have retained a core group of players from last season's squad and have added quality players in key positions. We are also still in negotiations with a number of exciting players to add to an already very talented group.
The squad is looking much more experienced and balanced than what we had last season and I am really confident we can improve on what was a fantastic debut year in 2014/15."
The squad is taking shape for next season with 21 players confirmed in the squad so far:
Forwards:
Jack Morrison, Matt Reid, Chris Barratt, Liam Thompson, Richie Hughes, Matt Cooper, James Geurtjens, Trae O'Sullivan, Alex Beddows, Jono Miliszewski.
