It’s all change at Coventry Bears as the new season starts in just over a months’ time.
The season kicks off in 2020 on Friday 10th January with Coventry Bears returning to the Butts Park Arena after nearly 9 months’ absence.
The changes are titanic with a new 4G pitch to play on, a closer relationship with the Butts Park Arena and various new and exciting sponsors and commercial partners. There are a host of new faces within the playing squad, a new Director of Rugby (Alan Robinson moving over to the playing side from CEO) as Debbie Watson moves into the position of Chief Executive. What better time to join the Bears as they embark on a fresh new season in the exciting build up to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup which will see world class players coming to the city.
The first game of the season, a pre-season warm up game against Championship side London Broncos, will see former Head Coach of the Bears, Tom Tsang, bring the Broncos reserve squad to the familiar BPA. The Friday night lights game will be the first opportunity for fans to see the new squad who have been training hard since November. It promises to be a great opportunity for fans to enjoy hot food and a few new year drinks as the Bears squad prove that they mean business in 2020 as they play for the very first time on the new 4G playing surface kicking off at 7:30 pm.
A new closer relationship between The Bears and the Butts Park Arena will ensure a friendly, welcoming atmosphere from 5:30 pm, a guaranteed seat within the stadium, a state of the art (mud free) pitch and a pre-bookable £30 two-course hospitality will kick all this off on January 10th (please email debbie.watson@coventrybears.co.uk for more information). Go CV members will be able to access an exclusive offer for this specific Friday night game with entrance priced at just £5 per person (age 12+) upon presentation of the GoCV card on the evening together with an e-ticket. An even more exciting offer is that for a limited time only, GoCV members can purchase a full season ticket to watch all League One home games at the Butts Park Arena for just £105*, so that’s less than £10 per game.

Tom Tsang from London Broncos said “This will be the first game for the club for the 2020 season so all involved will be raring to go and wanting to rip in and put in a big performance. The team we put out will be made up of our Reserve Team players who have been training since the start of November, plus the possibility of First Team players and u18s. It will give us a perfect indication of what we need to work on ahead of the season which starts in February. On a personal level it will be nice to return to the Butts Park Arena where I have spent the majority of my career before joining the Broncos.”
