Shaw Cross Gala Success for Bears U11s

Coventry Bears U11s enjoyed a fabulous day out at the Shaw Cross Gala on Sunday 21 July 2024.  Heading up the M1 to play Northern Rugby League teams for the first time both players and parents were unsure as to what to expect but were greeted warmly both on and off the pitch by the other participating clubs.

The Bears, facing their greatest challenge to date, went undefeated against traditional opponents in Stanningley, Dudley Hill, Thornhill Trojans, Shaw Cross Sharks, Birstall Victoria and Hull Dockers.  The games were played to a high skill level with tough tackles, hard runs and superbly taken tries.

Opposition coaches and parents were highly complimentary of the Bears play in particular the commitment, attitude and execution in defence.  Many of the clubs the Bears played were interested in fixtures for the 2025 season as the Bears look to develop next season.
