Coventry Bears U11s Cumbria Tour 2024

Coventry Bears U11s undertook a ground breaking tour to Cumbria in the first weekend of August, in the first ever junior age group tour of the club's history.  Located in the breathtaking scenery of Coniston, the hardy sleuth of Bears camped on the Friday & Saturday evening enjoying a local band and hospitality at the Coniston Sports & Social Club on the Friday night after arriving.

The morning after an incredibly wet night brought sunshine and blue skies as the Bears headed via minibus to Ulverston RLFC, who hosted a tri-team tournament at its picturesque ground on the banks of the River Leven as it entered the Irish Sea.

First up were Dalton RLFC U12s who provided a stern test for the Bears and came out 10-6 winners against a Bears playing & coaching team suffering the after effects of too much fizzy pop, sweets and lack of sleep.  The second and final game against Ulverston saw the Bears awake from hibernation and produce a commanding performance to secure a win in Cumbria against a valiant opponent.

Ulverston were tremendous hosts putting on a BBQ for the Bears afterwards, medals for all players and a trophy for the Bears player of the tournament.  Following this the Bears took the scenic route back to Coniston followed by a swimming and jetty jumping trip to Lake Coniston and rounding the evening off with a BBQ, drinks and play at Coniston Sports & Social club on the Saturday evening.  Weary but satisfied players, parents and coaches made their way home on the Sunday after a truly amazing weekend, superbly organised by coach Brad.
